Use alcohol to extract the goodies from the roots. The result is called a tincture. You consume that. I have no idea of how much or how concentrated the tincture is. You'll have to research that. I do know that I found seeds for sale on one site at about $9 for 25 seeds, and they will grow in most of the US except maybe the most northern tier of states.
