From Friday 17 December 2021, customers will be required to show proof of their COVID-19 vaccination status...

aaand at the bottom of the page says...

However, it should be noted that compliance with these checklists is no longer mandatory.

at first glance it seems like backpedaling while trying not to lose face. a common tactic practised worldwide i think. can we get some opinions on this please?

They lost control at province (or whatever) level so allowing any local commie leaders to take over without impacting the optics of provincial control as much.
