That's disgusting. If military members have consistently been residing in these dwellings, then here are my questions:
What happened to cleaning responsibilities? And inspections? When I was in the military, if one pubic hair was found in the bathroom, a mirror found with the slightest smudge, or even a ghost turd found under the bed, those were punishable offenses with liberty restrictions.
If these quarters have not been used, then why hasn't the base kept the quarters up to military standards? Looks like CDS would eliminate all the mold very quickly.
You should've seen the barracks I was first housed in during "A" School @ NATTC Millington, TN. The quad literally had posted signs from the EPA, OSHA, AND NAVOSH saying they were condemned due to asbestos laden floor/ceiling tiles, leaded window sills and lead paint. And I loved there for over a month. Not just m, but everyone going to an "A" School longer than 2 mths was houses there for the 1st mth. Idiots would move the ceiling tiles around to hide liquor and other "contraband."
And guess what? Somehow, the paperwork they had me sign acknowledging the exposure had been purged from BOTH my Service Record AND my Naval Medical Record by the time I left service 9 yrs later. I don't even want to know if the water there was ever contaminated.
I was in the ARMY in the '80's. My son is in now. The conditions at the two posts he has been assigned would never pass muster back then. The conditions that our soldiers are having to deal with is pathetic at best. Food, shelter, leadership, post (base) condition are terrible. FJB/ObungHOLE
They haven't changed since before I got out in '04, too. Camp LeJeune's water quality is notorious, as well. Can't even cook or brush teeth with it
And when you shower, keep your eyes and ears closed.
Buy bleach at 99 cent store. Mix in 50 percent water and spray on walls. If govt wont remove mold, marines need to take initiative and save themselves from it.
It is not quite that simple. While bleach my remove the topical indicators of mold growth, the underlying elements remain causing reoccurring incidents and a continued health concern.
I have seen structures demolished for less mold incursion than what I am seeing in these videos....
If they are stuck there they can contain it with whatever they have by covering wall with plastic and glue, tape, paint. Varnish. Wood panel. They will have to get creative. It's not perfect but it's better than flat out exposure.
Paint seals it in. It's better than not dealing it if forced to stay there. Frankly if it's real dangerous they might be safer pitching a tent elsewhere.

I have heard that this is so true in so many places and even housing of families on base is awful. It should never be like this.

The mold spores are airborne, that is what makes black mold dangerous, it gets into the lungs and that is a prescription for Bleeding Lung Syndrome...
