So to go to the mall, big box stores and big chain grocery stores and 99% of restaurants they all 100% require QR code contact tracing through the app Kakao Talk (its the most popular chat app in Korea)
Right now it is for contact tracing purposes, although bars and gyms have switched over to requiring proof of vaccination, which you also upload via Kakao talk or a government app that is read via QR code.
And ZERO people are protesting in anyway that I can see. If nobody is policing these check in stations, Koreans just do it willingly.
I can still get into places like this by playing the dumb American and filling out false information, but that will end soon.
yeah, with any luck I can continue to fly under the radar here, I own my own online business so I don't need to participate in anything and I can shop at open air markets or online if it gets bad.

The other thing is, there is also a phone number you can call to do contact tracing, so to get past alot of these systems, I pretend to call the number and I Just call nobody and they don't check, but once they switch over to requiring vaccines, that system will be gone.
It's crazy how quick it happened also, none of this was around this time last year, it pretty much all popped up in the last 5 months.
And in Korea less then 3k people have died of Corona, more people died of the regular seasonal flu in 2019....
