Fact check: Twitter CEO resignation not related to Ghislaine Maxwell trial
The claim: On the first day of Ghislaine Maxwell's trial, the CEOs of Twitter, Walmart and CNBC all resigned
Our rating: Partly false
Based on our research, we rate PARTLY FALSE the claim that, on the first day of Maxwell's trial, the CEOs of Twitter, Walmart and CNBC all resigned. On Nov. 29, Dorsey resigned as Twitter's CEO and Biggs resigned as Walmart's CFO. There's no evidence either was related to Maxwell's trial. CNBC's chairman and Walmart's CEO have not announced their resignations.
In other words, this Facebook page- https://www.facebook.com/HeadNerdsInChargeWest/ , a page that highlights "everything in pop & geek culture from the black perspective", posted a false meme about the CEOs of Walmart and CNBC also resigning (I've only ever seen the Walmart CFO mentioned) and the fact checkers used that as their source so they could rate the claim partly false.
I've noticed a pattern with some of these fact checking sites posting false memes on Facebook sites like this (and when I say false memes, they don't show up in a tineye.com search, as an example). This particular meme actually had tineye.com results but not for the meme itself, only for the included court room sketch.
I only knew about it from the factcheck article, as they linked to that Facebook page.
"On the FIRST day of the Ghislaine Maxwell trial," reads text in a Nov. 30 post from Head Nerds in Charge West, "the CEO of Twitter resigned; the CEO of Walmart resigned; the CEO of CNBC resigned."
The post accumulated more than 1,700 shares within one day. Similar claims have also been shared thousands of times on Facebook and Instagram, according to CrowdTangle, a social media insights tool.
I smell panic.
It was posted last night a little before midnight, so I do believe you are correct, fren.
If you see them flee then you can smell panic
All they have done is confirm what we already know as the truth.
absolutely, why even put anything out there, normies would never associate those two things as mutually exclusive.
Once again, they are playing themselves... love to see it!
If you post on Instagram that “Omicron is an analogy of moronic” the fact checkers are labeling that as false, lol.
We'll probably discover later that Walmart was directly involved in sex trafficking of minors.

Thanks for being far more thorough with this than I was; I’m still battling the Rona, so I was lazy about this one.
Cheers for archiving and pointing out this weird Facebook bot-like behavior pattern!
Best part is you included Walmart CFO in the post title which further proves my point.
I didn't see anybody here claiming the "CEO of CNBC" resigned, either, for that matter.
Agreed. I didn’t even know about the Facebook meme. Then again, I don’t use my Facebook anymore, so I wouldn’t come across it regardless.

And here's the archived link of the meme- https://archive.md/bFbdh
There is a thread about the “CEO of CNBC retiring on this board right now,” but at least it isn’t stickied.
It's not like they ever get prosecuted either way.its a special club and the membership is small.
