Even the ones that aren't purposely forum sliding are LAZY. Just a title and a link. I don't want to have to go click on some video just to find out 1) I already know that info or 2) it's a crappy (or too long) video I'm not interested in.
FFS, posters, save us time and give a synopsis. Otherwise, as OP says, the first commenter has to post it (if they're not beaten out by some forum sliding shill who gets the wrong conversation going).
Who wants to write a thesis every time they post information though. The whole reason this started was to get people into the habit of researching for themselves. If we do what the media does we are essentially helping them in dumbing down the masses, making some of you reliant on the work of others. Sorry if you have to revisit information that you might already know but honestly that isn't a bad thing and if you are omitting information because you haven't the time or get bored maybe you would best be suited catching the highlight reel at the end of the game.
Oh ffs, there is a huge difference between a quick overview of an article and friggin thesis. I have NO issue reading articles, watching videos or doing digs. I DO however take issue with wasting multiple minutes figuring out wtf a post is supposed to be about especially when it wastes many tens of minutes a day. That is one of the the things forum sliding is all about, keeping you occupied and wasting your valuable time.
What is better: using 5 minutes of the posters time on a very quick/brief summary or wasting 2 minutes of time from EVERY person who comes across it? And you have the audacity to call the readers lazy?! I mean if you can't do that math ...
The poster is likely in the middle of getting as much information as they can and just have the few moments to post in between. would you rather they not post? It seems to me that you should use the deport button, as it is the responsibility of all users and MODs to determine what is/isn't helpful information. It is in the rules, after all. Who are you really mad at here? Be careful with ideas like this as well. For many we are lucky to be able to get information at all. What would you like? Keywords? In this post I wish to address? Small list of my findings within this document? If the readers cannot be bothered to drop two minutes each to determine if the information is valuable to them.... then the reader IS lazy. The poster of the information is likely to have already spent the time to read what they are posting about determined it was valuable and then took the time to post it.
How ungrateful, "I have to sift through information provided to me by strangers that took their time and skills to consolidate the information in a place that makes it much easier to gather the information than anywhere else on the Web." you are more than welcome to search everything for yourself, which is what a lot of the posters have spent their time doing. Tis a thankless job, and I am very greatful to not be one of them right now having seen how thankless it can be.
If you are unable to sift through information the way it is presented maybe you should make your own site and do it the way you prefer! Be the change you want to see ;) Please do link me to it as I would like a break from searching the web and would like to be spoon fed Headlines that allow me the opportunity to not have to deep dive into the content provided. Media! Come on, Man!
Just be thankful that this site exists in the first place. Jeez
" If the readers cannot be bothered to drop two minutes each to determine if the information is valuable to them.... then the reader IS lazy."
So you're saying I should use 100+ minutes of my time every day to screen articles/videos instead of someone who is familiar with it, having supposedly read it already, bothering to take the time to write one or two quick sentences? GTFO. Considering the fact that virtually every single one of those types of users posts duplicates of so many other peoples topics, it's obvious their efforts are shit to begin with. Fewer posts with higher quality goes a long damned way.
