They didn't remove the dislike button. They only hid the number of dislikes. They did that to lower the viewer's chances of clicking it. When you watch an awful video and you see 1 million dislikes, you're more likely to click the dislike button. The opposite applies when you don't see any dislikes. You're more likely just to click off the video or not watch it at all. Dislikes are still counted and collected. You just can't see them.
