Here's UD:
"When used in online political language it can mean 'based in fact' or the opposite of biased due to the number of people who saw it being first used seriously by the online political right and came to the conclusion that is was related to the phrase 'destroyed with facts and logic' in reference to right wing personality Ben Shapiro."
Uh, I dunno about the last part. So my basic take would be:
"Conservative, rational/non-emotional, down with reality etc vs I dunno 'un-based' 'debased' 'lunatic' etc libs that are, well, anything but 'based.' And I'd say MAGA vs RINO/regular-still-watches-Fox Republican. Ha, that's probably a good metric - still watches Fox? Not based."
Your go.
Based means not swayed by the whims and fake weather conjured up by the Fake News each day. Not taking anyone at their word, researching the truth, always following the money and finding the motives. Based is REAL, NOT swayed by BS talking points, based is breaking down your weapon and putting it back together like an armorer.
"Based" in Reality
Yup, “reality” was the OP’s key word.
Based means having a solid foundation of realism, even if it’s the ugly truth, over adopting pretty lies.
Having a strong foundation, resistant to attacks from transitory fads and sound-bite ideologies. A good base.
My initial thought was basically "you know - based."
Think of it as an antonym of debased.
To me the simple definition of "based" is that you realize everything you see in the Media, big tech and the political class is an illusion meant to manipulate us.
It sounds like you both don't know.
This seems to be mostly accurate as far as I can tell.
Uh that seems more in line with the hip-hop answer - however, I asked how YOU (as in all, not just you) would explain it, not where it came from.
Right. And, based on my personal experience, that seems to be most in-line with reality. Would you like me to paraphrase for you? Will that make you feel better about it?
Chill, Winston.
We grow copious amounts of ganja, yah? And you're carrying a wasted girl and a bag of fertilizer. You don't look like your average horti-fucking- culturalist!
"We grow weed, we're not mercenaries."
"You don't say."
You're the one that didn't think my answer was good enough. Take your own advice?
I didn't say your answer wasn't good enough. I remarked that rather than "we both don't know" your reply pretty much matched the one about hip-hop culture, and that I was more curious how, if asked out of the blue, anons here would describe it. I realize tone is almost impossible to infer in online text, but I meant no argument nor harm actually.
It's whatever, bud. I'm just saying that link is about as accurate as it gets so far as I can tell. No reason to reinvent the wheel, you know?
