Fren stop worrying, if you are "getting over it" now then be happy. Look at it as a bonus, if you picked up the coof or the moronic version, happy days you will now have a level of immunity. But also it's that time of year when many other flu virus strains are kicking about, it could have been that.
I haven't given my horse any worming paste as I'm sure he had it about 1 yr ago, bad cough for 5 days then better.
Anyhow I can't answer your question directly, but hopefully now you can enjoy Christmas, regards.
Just a little story from me, after suffering a serious life threatening injury in the military which left me paralysed from the waist down at the time, recently, like over the last 8 years it turns out I went through sepsis a few times. One time I was in hospital, but because of the metal now holding my spine together they couldn't see the abscess that was causing it. I remember one time going through a fever, it reached ridiculous levels, like close to 41c (105.8) and they had me in a cooling suit and all sorts, even going to induce a coma.
I think the point behind that is just to say, try not to worry too much, it only adds to the illness at the time. I was once told that when your body is really in the shit then it will tell you, my last bout of sepsis 2 years ago certainly did that, 2 months in hospital with zero immune system, white blood count to nil, infection markers to 168 (should be 0 or 1) and a skin infection courtesy of the hospital and a host of other stuff.
Our bodies are incredible, and can cure themselves of most things if the inputs it needs are there, just rejoice in the fact you are better, your wife is ok and you will spend time with them this Christmas. No matter how bad things can get, there's always someone worse off.
Have the old horse paste on standby for the family, it works well on all horses given early enough fren.
