I can get with the Liberté part. And perhaps even the Fraternité part. The Egalité part is Commie. Unless we specify Equality of Opportunity. Not Equality of Outcome, or the dreaded "Equity" (whatever the fuck that means....).
Equality refers to equality under the law, as in no special treaent of nobility or monarchs. In the days of monarchy, the nobility was the top, then the clergy, then the common folk. Each had a vote in Parliament but the clergy and nobility would outvote the common folk 2 to 1.
