Pretty sure the reason for this is there are very few new releases in January, and the carryovers from December are not scheduled until a day or two before so they can shift things around based on what is selling.
If you go to the actual theater websites though after January 6 the only movie being shown is 355. Try to buy a ticket for example for January 7 for any of these new releases and you will see what people mean.
I thought it sounded stupid but his Chattanooga 18 multiplex and starting in the 6th is 355 along with Spider-Man ghostbusters etc and then from the 7th to 13th nothing but 355 and then 355 is gone. Only in theaters for one week exclusively! What the actual fuck?
The big theater in my town has a full schedule listed on their website going all the way to Jan. 19. They've only scheduled one move so far for that date, "Scream." They have a lot of screens and have multiple movies scheduled each day before that. I think the movie "The 355" plays there a few days, but then it's gone, replaced by something else.

This would make sense.
