The amount of saving when you don't buy crap is amazing.
I loved movies and worked next to a 1 screen place in a small town. This was in the 90's. So, got to know the manager. At that time movies would take 60% of box office, big movies 70%. Then Spielberg ran Jurassic park or some other big movie, forget which. They wanted 85% box office takes. This is why prices for snacks is high. The place in which you see the movies are not allowed to make money off of them.
Now the studio's are trying to own the theaters outright.
You think that Hollywood, despite being far from the summer blockbuster season, would try to at least pump out some mid-budget movies, aswell as some cartoon for children, just to rake up some cash to keep going. Strange.
Most theatres don't set things in stone until they know what they're dealing with.
If an unknown amount of people buy tickets at any point in time, you can't just assign theatre rooms (of several you have) to movies willy nilly.
What if you suddenly need to have a showing of 3 simultaneous "Mama's Big House 5" movies at the same time, way beyond what you estimated for?
Well, if you overestimated the numbers for "008: Piefall" then you've already booked people for times that you cannot possibly present them.
It's especially troublesome when no one shows up to a showing. You would have booked a theatre hall for nobody, and still had to pay the studio to show the movie.
Eeek.
I could be wrong, but there are plenty of reasons as to why this system is probably just how they have to deal with so many unknowns in the concession / entertainment business.
checked both Cinemark and Regal down here and the only movie that is showing starting on Friday is 355...all others are removed. Not sure if this is normal or if they are already making preperations to close again...assuming once 355 has been out long enough....who knows
My husband says weekend shows are scheduled/released the Wednesday before. He used to work in a movie theatre all through HS and after a mission. He said it isn’t weird even after I asked why just one movie. He also brought up there aren’t a lot of movies out and theatre's aren’t doing too well right now. He didn’t think it was odd at all
I got to the part where you’d pay for the tickets - looks like there are many tickets available to see the Spiderman movie this 1/6 Friday night at my local Cinemark theater. Still, they just posted the schedule today. It wasn’t available as recent as yesterday
Cinema Cafe, Regal, and ones near our house arent selling Fri-Tues. Not even listing the movies out on those days. It's odd. Thursday is their normal spread, no 355 at all, but after that nothing available to look at
Here's the monthly calendar for a theater in a city in this area. There are plenty of movies on there. Someone said the new schedules would come out on Tuesdays.
Also, I think someone mentioned this before, most of the major movie releases are from Netflix or Amazon. Not the traditional movie outlets in Hollywood. I imagine there are a few that made it through but they are probably from foreign production companies, not US based. The James Bond movie comes to mind.
I’d think the amount of people still wanting to see movies like Spider-Man, etc would warrant being able to purchase tickets 3 days before the weekend.
Best guess. Movies are bombing. They are holding them back for a few days, weeks what ever. They need to figure out how to get people back into seats.
Keep up the good work. DON'T BUY, RENT, STREAM or GO TO MOVIES!
The DEEP STATE is Hollywood, the companies are OWNED by DS Disney, Sony, etc. Fuck them ALL!
We don’t go to the movies; my MIL is a -48 subscriber and apparently they’ve been talking about this lol.
What's that?
Negative48 is a guy on YouTube (I think?) that a lot of boomer ladies like my MIL and her friends think is JFK Jr LOL.
Except AMC. Cause I bought. Hodl
I am stacking silver. GG.

We need to "BOOM like that" them. "They are going to drown, put a hose in their mouth." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sYK2RwH5E8
President Trump also doing a speech on Jan 6 from Maralago
Guess it was just a glitch in their system - had hoped it was meaningful.
What did you think it meant?
It’s just odd. Even the Marquee at AMC is totally turned off. Never seen that before.
Still glitching here!

Yep all fixed in SE MI.
Don't read too much into this.

That’s definitely plausible! If they get posted tomorrow then that must be it!

down here in TX
Same! At Regal it’s showing 355 only. What’s drop 355? Hmmm. Hold please.
Lol we’ll post 355 just says:
“Fake.
Q”
that's probably when the vax passport will be implemented
Ooooh good point.

Thanks for the info!!! This makes me feel better!
My husband is my voice of reason sometimes, talks me down from the dramatic ledge.
My local theatre ( Regal) shows no interruptions.

I’m going to check ours again tomorrow.

Plenty here too

Yes ours has that as well but you can’t buy tickets for said movies past 01/06 for some reason.

So, now that the Jan 6 Trump interview is off, they're all open for business now. I wonder what someone was planning?
Why give them your money? Have we learned nothing?
Who said I was giving anyone money? It’s called an observation.
This is also plausible! Let’s hope white hats are stopping a FF!
Not where I live. Theaters are crowded and Spider-Man was sold out in almost every theater in which it was playing. At least in New Years Day.
Ours were sold out too. Now can’t even look at Spider-Man tickets.
