Could be symbolism and could be bc at face value its a childrens story. I still like alice in wonderland. Go ahead dv
I’m actually very fond of the story as well.
I used to be fond of the math, probably still have Gardener's analysis, but after learning about Carroll's proclivities the whole thing got a lot slimier. Now it really does seem to go better with disgusting Tim Burton and all that creepy degenerate vibe.
The epic Alice game by American McGee was a disturbing hint at what might really be under the surface of institutions and pop media (including fairy tales, esp Disney-ized) and personally made me very sorry for whatever she'd been through herself as a youth. As I learn more about the real monsters out there, I'm retroactively horrified that so much has been in front of us all this time and we collectively never followed anything out to its logical conclusions. We do have more than we know. We have had more than we knew.
It's both. That's how symbolism works.
Roddy Piper: "Put on the glasses!" 🕶️ "Look at them, they're everywhere!"
By this logic "They Live" is a scifi thriller, and has no symbolism pertaining to society waking up.
