No filter will keep free-floating virus particles from being circulated around, which is the only possible threat for someone in a car by themself. The trouble is, the media has drilled fear into so many people, and misled them into believing masks actually stop virus particles.
Which is graded far higher than the masks could dream of being in stopping contaminants from getting into the cabin of the car.
So the damage they did to their vents by tapping holes for screws is simply a 10% devaluation on the asking price for their vehicle at the very least, seeing how someone now has to pay at least a grand to replace the dashboard cover now it has unsightly holes drilled into it.
I wouldn't be so upset, seeing how there already are filtration screens in cars anyways, so this is a redundant life-hack at best...
But seeing that they are screwed in, which means permanent damage to the car...
Now, that grinds my gears.

Oh, sure, but the masks could block large dust particles at the very least. Not that they need to.
My point is, it's nearly completely redundant because of this baby:

They probably did it to impress their leftist buddies :)
It looks like they are just attached with push-pins, so it may just be a joke someone is playing.
