But tsunamis do not act like normal waves, so even if they're not tall, they can still be dangerous. It basically looks like the ocean coming to grab everyone and then heading back out to sea.
Look at the videos from Samoa and Tonga last night. These are small tsunamis, but I wouldn't want to play around in this:
Spouseanon just brought this up - I checked and the waves are expected to be...1-2 feet. But stay away from the coast! It is laughable.
(For perspective, Mavericks waves are between 25-50 feet.)
