I used to go there for some of the tech and hobby subs, but nearly all the based people left for the most part and even the subs I used to enjoy are shells of their former selves when I check in every so often just to troll /r/politics and lose karma. Then I post some meme on a sportsball forum with high production quality and recoup it all.
whenever they shut down the q sub (can't even remember the name) and drove a bunch of us onto 8. before that i had barely been comfy as a lurker. they set up that training board that had all the info about how things actually worked. eventually end up with notables of my own.
they thought they were burying us. they didn't realize we were seeds.
I would say almost everyone on there is a braindead lefty but that said you can still find good info on subjects you might be interested in.

I looked around for another social site in about 2013-14, it was rapidly going to shite since Conde Naste took over.
I tried a few sites including one Whoiverse which wasn't up to much but there were far worse ones full of batshit crazy people ranting and raving.
Then Pizzagate came to be, Reddit censored that and Whoiverse changed its name to Voat and everyone decamped there.
Very similar to the_donald and how it came to the .win communities.
