Where i live if you are registered as independent you are not alowed to vote in the primaries. We need all of our R voters available to primary all of the rinos.

In MD it's a closed primary so independents can only vote in the general elections. There are actually almost as many independents here as there are Republicans. When people say the state is 2-to-1 Dems to Reps they never mention the large independent population.
Wish the indys would pick a party so they can have a say. It's not like the state government with their veto-proof majority is going to open the primaries up. Heck, they just voted to have residents apply for permanent mail in ballot status and add voting drop boxes at prisons. I'd rather be a registered independent too, but I'm not giving up my ability to vote in any primary.
I was Independent until I realized I had to devlare a party to be able to vote in a primary. This needs to change; Independents are disenfranchised
I don't know why anyone would waste their vote in a primary but I've been told it is set up this way so the independent primary voter can't just primary in the weaker candidate for the party they want to loose.
In MA I’ve been able to vote either.
PA is closed primaries for independents.
I am unaffiliated. NC allows us to choose whichever primary we choose to vote in But good poibt for other states.
