Add in ethylene oxide from test swabs and the swab fibers imbedded in the mucous membrane of the nose.
So the ethylene oxide thing actually fake news. Turns out, sterilizing medical devices with EO is very common and safe because the EO is destroyed almost immediately and so it's all gone by the time it reaches a patient.
Sterilizing medical devices is fine.
Placing EO on mucous membranes via a swab that has fibers break off in your nasal cavity is very different.
I agree about swabs in the nasal cavity, but that has nothing to do with EO. What I was trying to say is that there is no EO on the swab by the time its being used. The EO is all evaporated very quickly after its applied so its gone pretty much by the time it leaves the factory.
