The auto industry already has for years, how many news stories about a Tesla catching fire vs ICE cars? Both are rare but I've seen a few conventional vehicles on fire on the side of the road but never witnessed a Tesla fire myself yet the corporate news ran stories once a month on it for years.
Lithium fires are hotter, and harder to extinguish. Spontaneous combustion is real, and it's wise to share the knowledge of how and when it happens. Even if it's only novelty, it's newsworthy when it happens.
Once a few of the battery cells are busted there is a runaway process that continues to burn hot. Can’t really put it out. Just need to cool until it burns itself out.
