We're seeing them on the 19th here at the San Antonio Rodeo! Styx, that is, not OBama
I saw them back in the day for the Mr. Roboto tour. I didn't even realize they were still touring.
We will let you know who is there. It's usually a scaled down version of a big concert.
I saw them a couple summers ago with Ted Nugent at DTE in Clarkston, MI. Great show. Tommy Shaw is very underrated. His guitar leads are some of the best. Renegade was the encore. Dennis Deyoung has a marvelous voice but you can tell which songs he influenced over Shaw. They mostly suck. I stopped buying thier albums after Paradise Theater. Too much Time on my hands is their last good song.
As I understand it, Dennis DeYoung was more of a theatre guy. He's the one that went full-out on the Mr. Roboto album and tour. His idea was to have an album where all the songs told a story with a concert to go with it. He wanted all the flash of a big production, more or less at the expense of the music itself. The tour was a bit of a flop and it was around this time, if memory serves, that Dennis left the group. He tried to take the name "Styx" with him and there was a bit of a battle over that. The other members of the band, though, won out.
With a tree for a bounty.
