Power company where I live started installing smart meters on homes 2 years ago....everyone had to get one.... Unless you searched for it and found the option to opt out.
I found it and opted out...while I prevented the smart meter from being installed on my house, I am forced to pay a $15/month fee for having a meter that requires a manual read. Well worth the 15 a month in my opinion and I feel like I'm helping save a meter reader job at the same time. Not sure how many other power providers have this option but obscure it from the public view.
My electric utility provider where I live is Duke Energy for any of you that may have Duke but not know about the opt out option.
All you can do is buy an emf blanket to put on the backside. They are here to stay.
And put a few strong magnets around them

I imagine they can off your electricity supply with a smartmeter when they want to, perhaps by texting it.
Your smartmeter 'reads' and passes on info.
