This post isn't about starting violence with said guns. It is about the 2nd amendment essentially being a safety net against authoritarianism. There is a reason in the US we don't resemble current Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc(not to say we are in the best shape either). It is because they know they can't get away with lording over us and doing whatever they damn well please because of the 2nd amendment.
Just want to be clear this isn't about starting violence or condoning it. It is about how important the 2nd amendment has been in keeping a large amount of our rights/freedoms in the US untouched.
In newzealand you can still apply for a gun licence,.but you can use a rifle or a shotgun without a licence if there is a person with you who holds a gun licence .kinda like a learner driver in nz can drive a Car if the person beside them have a Licence but they have some pretty shit rules about hunting, you cant use a gun for hunting during the hrs of darkness,.which is determined ,as 1hr after sunset to 1 hr before sunrise,if you leave the millitary you can take your weapon with you for a certain length of time ,.( but you couldnt use it for Hunting).but if you want to go and Hunt you have to apply for a gun Licence, and then buy a gun,..pretty shitty,...
