Don't laugh - I'm so old I remember school drills - had to put eraser between teeth and drill hide under desks [Cuban Missile Crisis]...I think the eraser was either to stop us screaming or prevent our teeth from shattering in the explosion. Was discussed in playground but we couldn't decide.

Recently realized that duck and cover was an early psyop to generate fear and support for the cold War.
We never did that in school. It may have been because my school was within the blast radius of a major target.

I saw in a movie once… that if you get into a fridge, you will be shielded from a direct nuclear shockwave blast, and free from radiation.

This is funny. We have the best comedians in pepe's army ever. I remember this though I don't remember if I was ever in a nuclear drill.
As I recall they also closed the curtains over the windows so if they shattered glass wouldn't get all over us.
