You may have seen me write about how I believe all Secret Societies form with good intentions, but their state of secrecy means they are held accountable to no one which means infiltration, subversion, and corruption is allowed to occur unchecked, right?
Well, I still hold that belief. All types of organizations start with the fair share of people starting it believing they are going to do good in the world, and that they are going to use their power to benefit humanity.

So, who are the Rosicrucians?

You see, the cross is always misinterpreted. Everyone looks at the vertical and horizontal intersection. This is intentional obfuscation. The Four Quadrants in the negative space are the "real" meaning of the cross. They represent the Four Pillars, the Four Elements of Creation; Water, Earth, Wind, and Fire. In actuality, those are just short-hand symbolic representations of the true physical components involved. It's actually Radical Dry, Radical Wet, Radical Hot, Radical Cold, and when you cross any two you get the Water, Earth, Wind, and Fire.

Alchemists believe that the way to achieve Divine Purity is to isolate something, separate it into two Principle parts, radicalize those two portions, then recombine them in something called the Chemical Marriage. The Two Principles become One Matter and their offspring is the Birth of the Philosopher's Stone. So, they would create Perfect Water (Water+Air) and Perfect Earth (Earth + Fire) and combine them to make the Stone. Perfect Water is what they call Mercury, with a capital M. Perfect Earth is Sulfur with a capital S.
Chemically speaking, this is accurate. For a chemical reaction to take place, you need to mix things. Making sure they are pure before mixing ensures an even reaction.
So, the Cross Pattee is the same ideal. Alchemically, they believe if you take Radical Moisture (midpoint of Wet vs Dry) and Radical Temperance (midpoint of Hot vs Cold) and combine them you will reform the Substance of Divinity; the Aether, the Primordial Substance that is evenly balanced in all ways, such that a slight nudge in any direction will allow it to become any element you wish.
You create this Substance and add a touch of gold and it will turn the Aether into gold, essentially. The Philosopher's Stone is the step above, like a charged battery, where you nurture it like a baby by feeding it "Virgin's Milk" (Aether) and then you can scrape a bit off into a crucible of molten lead with a small nugget of whatever precious metal you want the lead to turn into, and presto, the lead turns into gold, silver, copper, or whatever you please. The Philosopher's Stone is the Key, and when you turn the Key the Gates of Heaven are opened to you. The Key Stone.
The Cross, the Swastika, the Star of David (actually Star of Solomon), Yin and Yang -- they are all symbols which mean the exact same thing: Purity and Perfection; Perfect Harmony of the Four Elements and Purity in all things Balanced and Moderate.

So, how does this play into the Rosicrucians?
Who are they, really?
Well, they were the Alchemists of Europe which re-discovered these Ancient Truths. They were scholars and their pupils who realized they held the power of the Sun in the palm of their hands, the ability to transmute any material they pleased. They also knew that the process could be sped up by harvesting the blood of children.
The feet of this substance could not be cut off, meaning that it could not be fixed and so deprived of volatility except by such long decoction in the pure blood of young children. - THE STORY OF NICHOLAS FLAMEL
So, they banded together to form a Secret Society that looked out for anyone who was following the same path, to make sure they didn't use the blood of children, as it would create a dark shadow over all of humanity. The Aztecs, Mayans, Egyptians, Babylonians, etc. knew this, by the way. Those are examples of what a culture obsessed with harvesting the Aether from humans looks like.
The Philosophers called their Secret Society the Rosicrucians, and they sought to keep the knowledge hidden away while snooping on anyone purchasing all the components necessary to discover the stone. They became Gatekeepers for the Truth.
Time passed, and some of the pupils forgot the honest purpose of the organization; or rather they intentionally dismissed the old adage: "Fear the old blood" and sought to harness the power for themselves and rule the world with Blood as the old Ancient Empires had done. With everything done in secret, who would even find out when the psychopaths took over?

The Old Serpent, the Cabal, the Khazars, whatever you want to call them, infiltrated the Rosicrucians, just like all other Secret Societies before them, stemming all the way to the time of the Pharisees and beyond. Using the incredible scientific discoveries of the Rosicrucians which stream-lined the Alchemical Processs and the Secret Symbol Language all had used but the Rosicrucians mastered, the Corrupted Rosicrucians infiltrated all other Secret Societies in a monopolistic corporate takeover scheme.
The Old Ways of the Egyptians, Mayans, Aztecs, Babylonians, and all others who would sacrifice humans for power came back with control over all global commerce.
Remember, it doesn't matter if you believe in any of this. What matters is that they do, and they are willing to kill 90% of the world population because they believe it. That makes them dangerous, and it makes this narrative, true or not, essential to understanding how they might think and act.

The Philosopher's Stone isn't always from the blood of children. It's just that the blood of children can be used to fuel a Philosopher's Stone. Fuel, because it's basically a battery.
The Cabal cannot Create a Stone, because Evil cannot Create. Instead, they must refuel the ones they have. You refuel it with Aether. You can short-cut the processes to create Aether with the blood of children, which has the most perfect balance of gold, silver, copper, tin, lead, mercury, and iron in it among all creatures. All these metals, in their monoatomic form, are necessary for growth and development.
Symbolically, these metals represent the Fullness of Potential, which is appropriate because Children are overflowing with Potentiality. Any blood works, but children have the best balance of everything necessary.
You can make the Stone honestly, but it costs you at least 20 years to learn the process, 6 years to source the materials, 6 months to gestate the Stone in an Alembic (the Holy Grail / Ark of the Covenant), 3 months to feed it in the Alembic with a carefully portioned amount of Aether, Mercury, and Sulfur, and then another 3 or so months to feed it with Aether after it solidifies. Most of this process must be taken in a vacuum over a steady heat, hence the use of the Alembic.
If you don't feed it enough, or let the heat take it too far, it will spoil and form into an alloy of all the metals you introduced into it. Aether is volatile, so you need a steady supply -- you can't just hoard it. Harvesting it from children by decocting their blood is the most cost-efficient way to supply the need of Aether to the Stone.
Once it is made, however, you can continue to feed it Aether to recharge it and it will never spoil. It takes on a clear citrine color with a tinge of blood depending on how long you kept it in the fire after it solidified.

Very important about "it doesn't matter if you believe it, they do": This means for any movement that 90%+ of it will always be the charlatans, counterfeiters, and snakeoil salesmen that know they're lying. If the movement is about a true phenomenon there will be a tiny fraction of practitioners trying to do the real thing who are overwhelmed (even without enemy help) by all those trying to rewrite the real thing into a cash cow.
I had the luxury to research alchemy last year and what people don't realize, and what makes them so confusing, is that their principle is that when they speak about alchemy it's always on multiple levels. Whenever they talk about chemicals they're also making a point about human nature (e.g. four elements mean four personality types) and about Creation and ways of behaving generally. Sometimes it is nothing more than a cryptic commentary about humanity under the guise of processing of metals. Sometimes when they say they will produce gold with the philosopher's stone, their primary meaning is that gold will appear in their pockets by virtue of enough people listening to their spiel about the stone and paying them.
These are all obscuring the science involved (it's not magic if you can explain it). Glenn Seaborg converted hundreds of atoms of lead into bismuth to prove it could be done (he knew how to make gold but it would've taken more energy). Because it used nuclear science nobody thought of it as alchemy, but it was brute-force least-intelligence alchemy all the same. If we can talk alchemy down from "impossible to buy" into the range of mere octillions of dollars, that is a greater bridge (from infinity) than the finite bridge to manageable activity.
So whatever degree it was had in the past isn't relevant. God knows how to do it, science has proved that, and he will reveal it all at the right time. Now all that means that, whether or not blood is literally chemically involved, it's not relevant because the blood is a entrapment device and once again, as the Bible has warned us, all the kingdoms of the earth are promised lyingly to those who will spill innocent blood. And that is natural for devils to offer. But both Plato and Jesus would tell us to resist the urge to do wrong, regardless of temporary benefit, because the Creator offers us better benefit for holding the line. The fact that others abuse this and then reign over us for 10 days has no bearing on our behavior; but understanding AMORC and these historical facts is merely advisory to avoiding entrapment. This is a very good insight I hadn't considered. You've shown me something. Four is the number of Foundation. Three is the number of Form.
A House(Foundation) has 4 corners. A Family(Trinity) has 3 members (Father, Mother, Child), a Marriage(Covenant) has two minds(each one's Strengths complement the other's Weaknesses), and they serve one Master(God).
This is the Family Unit. This is why it is under assault.
I've gotten a lot of research into fours. Rev. 5:13 mentions the four "elements" indirectly, referring to "every creature which is in heaven [air], and on the earth, and under the earth [fire], and such as are in the sea [water]." Also the four gospels are the four personality types; each describes itself as being the "beginning" of the gospel in different words. So these things overlap.
I agree tracing those fours down to the oneness of God is important. We also have heart; heart and soul; heart, soul, and strength; heart, soul, mind, and strength.
If I were an alchemist, I would be packing several layers of meaning into every illustration, but as it is I can only point out connections and let others draw meaning. The whole description of the process, which varied widely from person to person and was often physically unlikely, is intended as a metaphor for refinement of the soul. When an alchemist thought he got a result physically, it would be added to the oral lore for its metaphysical meaning, and sometimes handed down to us later in an echo in someone's writing. They didn't want us to know everything they found physically, although we can recover some of it historically and some of it by experiment.
Same here. There is a constant tendency to think that all of the schools have the worst intentions. It’s simply not true. Even the intentions of attacking the schools in the old days were, in my opinion, of good spirit. Of course they wouldn’t have gone into hiding and allowed the darkness to corrupt the few that are corrupt…so what can you do? Great post OP. I could write a ton, but will try to be reasonably succinct:
First, "alchemy" is indeed a way to obfuscate knowledge of the universal laws, as are most religious systems. This was required worldwide up until about 1930. The universal laws themselves had to be occulted (hidden) due to the incredibly low level of consciousness being expressed by the masses of humanity, as the vast majority would use the laws egotistically and selfishly for personal gain. One had to enter into a monastery, temple, ashram, etc. where a "master" would slowly and methodically introduce the universal laws to those he deemed ready and worthy.
Second, the purpose of life is to extend love; full stop. Most are capable of this, but some are not (psycho/sociopaths). The deep cabal also raises its children without expressing love to them. Many (but not all) of these children's hearts become closed off, due to not RECEIVING love. When one is unable to receive love, one loses the ability to extend it. A rare few humans are also born this way. But for the majority, it is learned behavior, deliberately foisted upon them.
Third, a "void" is created in the hearts of those unable to receive/extend love. This gap MUST BE FILLED, lest life be extinguished due to the one and only purpose of life. This void is filled by gaining power of others which generates a false sense of love, respect, obedience, etc. Thus, those with the void in the hearts seek power over others, at any and all costs, as it ensures the extension of life. These people are ruthless and manipulative beyond a normal person's ability to even comprehend, in their relentless drive to gain more power of others.
Fourth, those with voided hearts infiltrated all the secret societies over time, as you point out, as well as infiltrating all institutions that wield great wealth, power and control. Due to the consciousness of humanity at large, this was unavoidable.
Fifth, the universal laws are but one set of immutable and unbreakable laws. They can be used for good, or evil. Another way to say this is, white magic versus black magic.
Thus, those who have risen to be "in control" wield the universal laws along the dark path, in order to extend their lives (whether they're aware of this fundamental purpose or not). Their entire role in deceiving and propagandizing the masses is to maintain a low level of consciousness on the planet; a level that ensure they can continue to exist.
The two fundamental "vibrations" that must be expressed by the masses are fear and judgment. Where fear includes all its red-headed step-children - worry, guilt, concern, shame, anger, vengeance, hate, etc. And judgment includes blame, separation, charged criticism etc., when one adds the energetic "CHARGE" of right and wrong to their perceptions --- as opposed to "discernment", which is simply an observation without the energetic charge. Another way to express "discernment without charge" includes "witnessing" as expressed in the bible, or "neutral observation" as suggested in other spiritual traditions.
A realm/reality minus fear and charged judgment is a realm/reality where those with voided hearts cannot exist. This is where this realm/reality is headed. Only those that avoid expressing fear and judgment will survive in the approaching era. Another way to express this "state of being" would be "the armor of God".

You're actually spot on with your assessment of the gold being a spiritual light.
There are several types of gold:
gold = Also called Vulgar gold, the metal form we are familiar with. Considered to be "dead" and seen like petrified flesh, with Aether being the blood.
Gold = Midas' Touch Gold. Something that is "Pure" and "Perfect" is considered to be Gold. A well-made hammer can be considered Priceless, which is to say, it is "worth its weight in Gold."
Philosopher's Gold = The fullness of Potentiality. When someone has a talent, they have the Potential to use that talent to do incredible things in the world -- and create a Magnum Opus, which is something that alters the path of Humanity far past any ability to foresee. Philosopher's Gold is anything, be it an invention or concept, that creates a New Future for Humanity.
The Holy Spirit = The Gold-tinged White Light of Purity that flows within all things. The Divine Spark in the Heart of Man, the Sacred Heart of Christ by which all Angels are compelled to Kneel in the presence of. To hear but a single chime from these Golden Bells would bring you to tears, weeping and singing praise that you'd be allowed to see such Infinite Beauty. Angels, be they Stationed or Fallen, ride on the waves of light sent out from the Source, the Light of the World, the Christ. Fallen Angels cannot create dark, but they seek to prevent Light from hitting their Hidden Places so that, in their mind, they can avoid God's Sight and escape their Eternal Punishment.
I don't yet buy into a physical breeding of Angels and Men. Rather, I think they were simply possessed -- having offered up their souls and the souls of their children to those Devils (translation: Slanderer) who hide in the Darkness. Read through the hyperbole, I think you'll discover that the Power of Suggestion is the only thing necessary to turn man in to a giant, which is a mistranslation, it actively means "one who dwarfs over others" as in a Tyrant.

I was being attacked in my sleep. I would wake fighting for air sometimes. The last time I felt something laying on my back, making it hard to breathe. Then he started snickering & I could feel him breathing on the back of my neck. I fought to wake myself up but could not. So I started to pray, and when I said dear father in heaven, he was gone & I woke right up. It just amazes me that I can pray in my sleep !
Everyone who awakens goes through a time of testing. Be strong in your faith and you will prevail :)
edit: Think about it, if someone is false during the day (presenting a 'good' front) then they will fail when they are cast into the astral, because our astral body reflects our true self.
However, if you prevail in your dreams and act as you would if God were marking your scores (so to speak) then you know you are on the right path. Sort out the inner, then the outer follows suit - as above, so below.

I have my doubts that the Masons were ever a good thing
There have been many sects of Masons over the years. The Egyptian Masons were likely the originators, at least that's as far back as we can trace it.
Thousands of years pass and Freemasonry was established using the old cryptic teachings that trickled through zealous scholars over the years.
Let's say you discover an artifact in an old Egyptian tomb that teaches the ability to control peoples' minds.
The majority of people would want to use that knowledge for good, but know that if it fell into the wrong hands it would be the ruin of civilization, so they make sure to keep the discovery secret. How secret it should be kept is the point of discussion.
A wise person would memorize the knowledge but put it back where it was found with a better understanding of how the world works. A cunning person would record it cryptically in their works so the knowledge is not perpetually lost. A foolish person would try to abuse it to "better the world." An Evil person would use it to gain power and wealth.
All four types were present when the Freemason society took it's latest form, and each of these four branches of thought struggled internally.
The Wise ones decided to form a new Nation based on the honest, working principles they had discovered and only used the knowledge for that Nation's foundations. Once the Nation was set in motion, they let it spin like a top to see how long their well-designed machine lasted. These were the Founding Fathers.
The latter three persons have always been jealous of the successes of the first, and have plotted ever since to prove their way of thinking is superior to "set and forget".

That this attempt to pour that sort of Love into us sewed the War in Heaven and what we know as “Armageddon” - the perpetual War of Darkness ( The Fallen ) attempting to separate us away from light ( He & 2/3 the Angels that remained ).
I bring this up ( I am studying and this work from Cayce keeps coming up ) as the road lead literally to an intersection yesterday of Rosicrucians and Kabbalah - both being sects trying to sway other groups through occultism. Hidden knowledge.

Yeah, I remembered about the name change as I was writing the comment. Last year I commented about JK Rowling and Harry Potter and someone had a bunch of info on Rowling. I wish I could remember. She has so many references in those books to names that have significance in history and I was puzzled that she could know so much. I wonder now if the stories were not given to her, like the CIA did apparently with music. She is definitely playing a role now - Catturd re-tweeted one of her posts yesterday.

Before Acids and Bases were understood, Philosopher's used the term Radical Wet and Radical Dry.
Radical Wet = Acid / Caustic / Surplus Hydrogen, such as, well... Acids...
Radical Dry = Base / Alkaline / Surplus Oxygen, such as Peroxides
Upon reading these texts, you'll start to understand that they knew all about chemistry, but they didn't yet have a consensus name for the things they discovered. They tried their best to explain them with the symbolism they had at the time, if only because they had no other frame of reference to describe them to their peers.
Don't discount Alchemy. It's just a whole bunch of mysticism trying to describe a world of terms and concepts that had yet to be named.

This is how God made his Universe. God knows all, but the Universe only knows what has happened. As soon as the Universe knows of something, it is there forever. Light has shown the wall in the hidden mines, and Gold embedded in the stone glitters eternally.
God does not make it easy. He knows that asking Him for every solution is boring. If we had such capacities, we would be like the Angels, and not fully capable of loving God for the gift He has given us.
Discovery of God's Creation brings Him immense Joy, like the game developer watching peoples' eyes light up when they are the first to discover something no one else has.
Anything you discover was put there by God for you to discover, but while He might lead you to water, he won't make you drink if you don't want to.

I am confident that there is something big related to this hidden in the cave city down inside The Grand Canyon. I spoke to an elderly gentleman who had been been a treasure hunter and an author and I think he was also a professor a few years. When he first told me about how he found Montezuma’s gold, I didn’t take him seriously. He went into details about the cave city that had giant Egyptian Statues and Sarcophagus’s made of gold and gold artifacts a few hundred years old. He told me he went to try to collect some of the artifacts a few days after finding it, over forty some years ago and when he went back to get it, it was not only gone but he watched helicopters surrounding the are and saw what appeared to be military and police carrying huge crates down to small barges on the Colorado. Then he gave me a cd (which I have yet to look at) of what he claims are several true stories he wrote but was unable to sell on Amazon. He said, he thought, fine, I can’t sell it, I’ll give away locations for free. He was pretty convincing.

The vastness of secret societies and what they contain can become other worldly for a lot of people.
Breaking it down into easily relatable morsels, such as unions or corporations shows them just how easily, and ultimately believable it is.
Any organization that accomplishes its goals completely becomes useless.
So, to keep employed, it's beneficial to never accomplish your goals. Better yet, why not create the problems you're supposed to solve?
All Unions eventually turn into this. Secret Societies are no different, should their goals even be accomplishable to begin with.

It's not that they were altered in overall meaning. Bacon shoved all sorts of esoterics and hidden ciphers in it, apparently. You'd have to get the first edition to really be able to see what he did. Things like the first letters of every line break spelling out a word or sentence. That kind of stuff.

I was in Brussels years ago for about a week or so. There was a street that was covered by a ceiling of glass and was open to pedestrian traffic only. Down this street were little shops and cafes. At the very end of it, tucked into an out-of-the-way corner, was a green door with a brass plate. Beside it was a brass panel with buttons that you would use to ring someone to enter. If it starts out as a "secret" group, it's intentions are always nefarious and should be viewed through this lense. If they don't have anything to hide, then why be so "secret" about everything they say or do?
It's not that they are always nefarious, just that they know their plans won't be accepted by the public if they aired them.
There are circumstances where action has to be taken early to avoid catastrophe, especially if everyone's consensus would predictably be hoping the problem just goes away on its own.
I'm with you, though. I think it's merely a lack of faith in humanity that leads people to form secret groups to become a "guiding invisible hand." If they but had faith in their fellow man, they wouldn't give their fellow man reason to be paranoid that someone is manipulating them.
