Friends, I'm looking to buy physical gold and silver, mostly silver, and wondering what your go to reliable vendors are to source it? Also, is silver just silver or are some things considered better, such as silver eagle coins?
I'm a noob and know that there are many others looking to get advice from you seasoned vets. Appreciate the help!
While some coins are "official" U.S. dollars, as in, you could take your 1 oz silver dollar and buy something with it (legal tender) that cost a dollar, their real value, should the SHTF, or in any transition will be almost certainly be the same as any other ounce of silver. Your best bet imo is to buy the cheapest you can.
I have bought local, from JMBullion, Golden State Mint, and Moneymetals Exchange.
SD Bullion. I go for the 1oz bars. I buy for weight instead of decor. 🙄
Big girls need love to. I mean, bars seem practical. Will take a look at SD Bullion, thank you.
I am a big girl 😗.
jmbullion.com, quality products and good service, never had any issues in the decade i've been ordering from them...free shipping over $199 orders
Awesome thank you, this seems to be many people's go to.
Go with Buffalo rounds...less premium spent.
Affordable Jewelry and Precious Metal, ajpm.com. They are honest, when you make an order, you get a confirmation number with the price you pay. There is no nonsense when your order ships. They ship USPS insured (my apartment only allows one vendor in, packages get shipped to them and the decliner to the door. Ajpm ships to my mailbox or signature pickup at the local P. O. They ship when your check clears. I’ve been doing business with them for almost twenty-five years.
JM Bullion is good, I have bought from them several times.
Seems to be many people's go to I'll give them a try. Thank you.
Yup, they are pretty good. Just gotta make sure you are home when it's delivered to sign for it.
www.silvergoldbull.com/ape for special discount pricing
Awesome will take a look, thank you.
Silver Eagles demand higher premiums, some folks feel that is a good thing. They ARE pretty, but there are some art-bars around with women on it too. They are also more often faked, so watch out if Eagles are selling cheap-cheap.
Most people are pretty savvy re: physical market price. Don't shy away from online auctions. Just check out their feedback, before trusting. There are some dedicated silver merchants online.
There IS a neglible difference re: purity.
Canadian Maples and NZ Silver Ferns are .9999 silver. So, slightly purer than .999 that is normally considered pure silver. They are often cheaper than Eagles, so go figure.
Another fascinating rabbit-hole is junk silver. Look up the date on the coin and do your research. Mostly try to buy pre-WW2 junk. After that war, all governments in the world started debasing their currencies. Pretty soon ( a matter of a few years) they were stealing the silver from the people, because of the disgusting inflation. The metal was worth more that what was printed on it. Threepences are now worth about $2 each. So small stuff like that could be considered a form of barter when SHTF. Many auctions online sell them in ounce bags, for ease of calculation.
It's called junk, because it ain't pure. It's old and grubby, tarnished and is usually sterling, which means it is .925, with some copper content,
I’ve been buying sterling for decades. We call it scrap where I come from. It’s VERY easy to refine to higher purity. I learned how to do that back in high school. Lots of videos and how to’s online in case anyone is interested.
Awesome stuff man. Having small denominations does seem practical. The Canadian Maples and NZ Silver Ferns seem interesting with their slightly higher silver content. I will head this advice, thank you.
I placed my first orders totalling $3k between JM and SD. Awaiting delivery before I buy more.
I buy from jm bullion,sd bullion and my local bullion shop.
Goto r/wallstreetsilver the have a lot of info for new buyers. Just picked up 100 oz bar myself today.
Avoid buying online you’ll get scammed… Buy local. How I bought mine was, I did a web search for local silver and gold Exchange stores. 🙂
JM Bullion is reputable and I've never had an issue.
Nice find 👍
I’ve bought from eBay tons of times. But, if you do, make sure to have a way to test them, or take them to a local coin shop for them to test for you
