American Tradition to close out Independence Day celebrations. Why? That's a good question...

The original 1976 Bi-Centennial performance that apparently rocketed the theme into its place in American culture.

The choral introduction is God Preserve Thy People.

Apparently there are differing versions, translations, understandings of the lyrics...

I happen to like these the best... but any Russian speakers out there, or people with more knowledge of this, it'd be interesting to identify the original, correct lyrics...

O Lord, save Thy people

and bless Thine inheritance.
