I haven’t read the report yet. Until I do so and actually examine in-group and cross-group characteristics/comparisons, I’m playing it safe and saying that the vaccines simply aren’t able to protect people like originally claimed.

Vaccine coverage tells us about the proportion of the population that have received one, 2 and 3 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. By 6 March 2022, the overall vaccine uptake in England for dose 1 was 69.5% and for dose 2 was 65.0%. Overall vaccine uptake in England in people with at least 3 doses was 50.5%. In line with the programme rollout, coverage is highest in the oldest age groups.
The breakdown of vaccination—and the fact highest coverage is among the oldest age groups—makes me hesitant to say the vaccine killed them/produced worse outcomes because if Nana is 93, she’s far more likely to die from anything in comparison to, say, a 53 or 23 year old.
I’m not sure if the breakdown in the report goes into age groups specifically—I doubt it does, because the increase in mortality for younger people screws the narrative—but I’m hoping it’ll give me data for vaccinated/unvaccinated as well as an age group breakdown.
That’s why I can’t draw a conclusion from the headline—are we comparing similar demographics? Or did they just draw people out of a hat and shrug? Matched pairs would be ideal for this, but I guarantee we won’t get that kind of analysis on anything related to COVID or the vaccine.
