This ad makes perfect sense if you're cooking on a wood cookstove, as my grandmother was in 1941 as were several of my great aunts. In fact, Grandma cooked on a wood cookstove until the 1950s when Grandpa retired and they sold the farm, my great aunts did until until they died. One used to cook humongous (and delicious) meals when we visited on a woodstove in a kitchen half the size of a small walk-in closet. It was a lot more work than turning a dial and lighting a gas burner or oven.
So does saying 'the cats pajamas' but that was common slang 100 years ago. Lexicon evolves it doesnt just spontaneously appear. The phrase 'new world order' grew organically and took on a new meaning just like 'woke' has. Sometimes weird shit is just weird shit not a sinister conspiracy

The automatic gas range sounds great, but calling it a "new world order" for the American housewife sounds very odd.
