At my local Barnes and Noble. Indoctrination at its finest.

Take heart, fren. The fact that the books are still neatly "pyramided" shows that no one is buying any of the books. Pyramiding is the way the booksellers are taught to arrange the books.
Symbolism will be their....well, you know the rest.
It's exactly the same with the 'meat replacement' garbage. The supermarket shelves are full of it, yet no-one buys it and it all ends up on the 'reduced' section, where even there it doesn't shift. But they have to keep shoving it in our faces, to condition us that this is 'becoming normal'. The profit loss is nothing to them; this stuff isn't funded for profit after all.
Our meats manager (back when I worked grocery) tried to stop ordering fake meat because it wasn't selling, in fact it was ruining the bottom line of the department - he was instructed that he had no choice, he HAD to order it. It wasn't a fake 'Think of the vegans" schtick, it was orders from above.
Thank you for confirming my suspicions!! It would also be interesting - or grim - to find out where it goes for supposed 'disposal'.
We chucked ours in our dumpster
I have noticed that. Christmas 2020, I was in BN and BO's latest payoff, I mean book, was all over and being prompted. Fast forward to Christmas 2021 and it is still on the shelves. No one was buying.
This is because once a hardback book is in the store, they have to sell it. There is no sending it back.
Ah, so that is why you have the bargain hardbook section. Dang, what is the markup?
The bookshelf should be labeled “Books from Satan”
I used to like going there. The library is better though.
I can assist BN in completely going out of their already shaky business.
Burn it…
