V I Lenin! I was too young to understand Walter when I was younger. but the brilliance of his character is a real testament to the Cohens writing process. Cali Lib who converted to Judaism for his ex wife, who's dog he now takes care of so this dude can bang his ex. and makes everything about war.
The Movie is in LA and Camp pendleton houses Tons of fresh recruits. That become vets based on living there for a min of 4 years. And the mix of calling people out for racist terms 1 day then calling saddam a camel fucker when not even 5 minutes ago you put a gun to an old man's face over breaking the rules in a league game.
Edit 2: Er I guess I'm following your reasoning, such as it is, but pretty sure dialog in the movie indicates he was in fact in Vietnam.
Edit: PS as far as contradicting himself regarding racism or whatnot, see my previous response - he isn't the brightest bulb in the box. Cf the "ringer episode."
ya. he's a Vietnam vet. but I grew up in Camp pendleton as a navy brat. and you see these guys all the time. in there young days they go to bars and try and provoke fights with people to see if your training is paying off. lol. In there retired days they often watch msnbc and wonder how politicians can be so stupid. my dad's one. "if Trump would have just shut up he would have won the election etc...."
Shut the fuck up, Donnie.
