We are a republic that elects it's leaders through a democratic process. We are a democratic republic. Why is it wrong to say democracy but right to say republic even though both are missing a piece of the picture?
They are both wrong. The Republic was destroyed in 1861 and has never been put back together. What we have now is an oligarchy operated through corporations that provide government services. Democracy or Democratic Republic would both assume we vote and the votes of the people matter.
