Of course, Walgreens settled and didn't have to admit any wrongdoing. Sucks for families torn apart by Opioid addictions.
Walgreens was the 12th defendant to settle with Florida after the state filed lawsuits against major opioid manufacturers and distributors, which included CVS Pharmacy Inc. and CVS Health Corp. Walgreens did not admit to wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
I was prescribed Percocet from a clinic for a case of pink eye. Got the drops I needed and then sent a copy of the unused prescription to them when they tried to bill me $300. It did not get paid and they never sent me to collections. I fucking hate doctors.
Why aren’t doctors held accountable? That seems like the root of the problem in the legal drug world. Why hold Walgreens accountable when they were just doing their job? Sorry, I don’t get it. They receive a prescription and fill it but they go to great lengths to make sure it isn’t fraudulent. Doctors keep writing these prescriptions, handing them out like they’re no big deal...almost as if they’re getting a kickback for writing so many...wink wink. I’ve thrown away tons of scripts for junk I insisted I didn’t want but they wrote them anyway. I know so many people who go in for the dumbest things and always get Percocet and similar.
Also- sure, they’re going to use the funds for drug treatment programs. Sure.... like giving raises to administrators and medical directors, right? Sure.

Me too. They suck.

I love Florida but this I don’t trust at all.
So, not that it's a bad thing, but how does Walgreens being fined help when they just dispense medications/prescriptions?
Shouldn't they be going after Doctors writing them, Big Pharma and their drug reps?
Seems like it's about the same as busting your corner drug dealers, not really going to stop anything.
