way back in the day doctors put out ways to make your own with evaporated milk some karo syrup a little water why do they need to worry for hours do a little research....us old fucks survived they can too....lol

TewaPatriot 13 points ago +13 / -0

I use to make that with a little extra karo when my kids were constipated as babies, had them going every time. Also stores have this fortified powdered milk drink in the Mexican food aisle called Nido, actually had more vitamins etc in it than baby formula.

Lol...Yes we did...😉

damessinger 13 points ago +13 / -0

Once again, we need to let mothers everywhere know that they can make their own formula using the recipe our grandparents used: 13 ozs of evaporated milk, 20 oz of water and 2 tablespoons of Karo syrup.

Isn't goat milk also a substitute if available?

Threeballes 11 points ago +11 / -0

How the hell did humanity survive before the era of the Nanny State?!

ZerroDefex 9 points ago +10 / -1

Is there now an epidemic of mothers unable to create breast milk that we're glossing over?

OkieBowhunter 9 points ago +9 / -0

My question as well... WTF happened to breast feeding?

kekistani_prince 8 points ago +8 / -0

I know right, every single woman on this planet who still has her boobs has access to a specialized production facility that produces tuned nutrition and antibody training for her baby. Instead they choose to feed their f****** baby cornstarch and f****** vitamin water.

If it makes "you" feel weird to do it, grow the fuck up, stop being selfish and whiny, stop being such a pervert. If you absolutely, physically can't, this is not aimed at you, this is aimed at the full grown little girls with babies.

DrMcCoy 7 points ago +7 / -0

Not all women are capable of breastfeeding.

Q-cumber 2 points ago +2 / -0

Exactly. I have PCOS and it dried out my milk production very quick. All my kids grew up on formula. My sister-in-law had a preemie that had digestive problems and also needed formula. So there are many reasons ppl need formula.

RS34ME 2 points ago +2 / -0

True! I had to pump, b/c my son always wanted instant gratification when it came to being fed, and I just couldn’t produce fast enough. I blame this on the hospital giving him a small enfamil nipple bottle in the hospital after my delivery.😔

GopherEverett 2 points ago +2 / -0

I agree that breast feeding is best when it's an available option, but for some mothers, it isn't. I know a few otherwise healthy women whose bodies just didn't produce or couldn't produce enough. :(

kekistani_prince 7 points ago +7 / -0

How about you use your boobs for what they're actually meant for?

My wife breastfed because formula is an atrocious disaster of a thing that you should never give any baby. Forget arguments about whether or not breast milk is better this or better that, a baby should not eat that way.

There is so much more going on biologically between mommy and baby. If breastfeeding makes you feel weird you need to grow up and stop being such a fucken pervert.

A friend and I were also talking about all that tainted formula from China a few years back.

OkieBowhunter 6 points ago +6 / -0

Pull them tits out ladies. That's nature's way anyway. You're cutting corners and fucking your kids up.

seasonedcastiron 2 points ago +2 / -0

I mother needs to start nursing a newborn as soon as possible. If there is no baby on the breast, the milk dries up. There's no way to turn on the milk switch a few weeks or a month into it. [Well, there is a way, that some mothers who adopted but still wanted to breastfeed, but it a long, hard process and not very successful.] You pretty much have to be committed to the process those first few days.

People can order formula on Walmart and Amazon. I’ve looked I’ve made a post if people keep banging on about baby formula. If somebody stupid enough to drive around for hours of for baby formula instead of ordering online that’s not our fault. Especially at the price of gas! It makes no sense. Most people, if they can’t find something at a store, go right to the Internet to look for that product. How much of this is MSM fear porn!

Primo17 2 points ago +2 / -0

I know someone who was looking online and the kind of formula she used was out even on Amazon and Walmart. She was calling stores to find some but it’s gone everywhere. I’m not sure why the breastfeeding didn’t continue in her case. I’d be looking for someone to pump extra breast milk and buy that if it were me.

Sounds like a great business model at this point in time.

In Australia we had artificial shortages. Our Chinese residents, would buy it up in bulk and ship it to China and make big profits. Lots of Chinese do not trust their baby formula as at one stage it had plastic in it.

Not such a problem now as there are not many chinese students. But we had security guards trying to stop them cleaning the shelves out.

Just wanted to state that super diluting formula can result in water intoxication because the body electrolytes are thrown off, as well as damage to brain development due to insufficient protein and nutrients.

Hopiumaddict 2 points ago +3 / -1

I ordered two cans of formula this week and they were delivered same day.. just saying.

ditzee58 2 points ago +2 / -0

Similac is made by Abbot , aka, big pharma. Others are manufactured overseas which means added preservatives. Here are the ingredients for 1 brand. Others do not even list the ingredients online. If you cannot pronounce not know what these are, make your own.

Our store in our little town hasn't had formula come in in about a month now...sad to have to tell the parents looking to feed their babies that we don't have any...not much at other area stores either, if any at all...

americanjerky 1 point ago +1 / -0

This is nothing new. I’ve been dealing with it for 6 months. I even had a car broken into and the only thing taken was baby formula (that was recalled by Abbott because it was contaminated thank god we never used that type)

DoElmo 1 point ago +1 / -0

13 oz. Evaporated Milk, 2 tablespoons of Karo.

Iceman80 0 points ago +1 / -1

Plenty of baby formula at my local grocery store. It’s the Costcos and Walmarts (corporate behemoths) that are creating artificial shortages.
