It doesn’t necessarily matter rn. What matters is that the bohemian grove club had such a grip on the Republican Party for so long. It’s like when becoming a Republican presidential candidate, it was required(or encouraged) to at least attend or something. I don’t have evidence of this but it is strange.
This was only a couple months before Goldwater lost. It’s important to remember that republicans were always the pro business party, even under Theodore Roosevelt. Teddy had no problem with Trusts as long as they played by the rules and wanted to ensure business competition.
The Republican Party is(or was) probably so entangled with the club because of it’s elitist/pro-business history. The grove attendees are all wealthy influential people and politicians.
I think Nixon attended and said it was some "stupid hippie shit" (paraphrasing, obviously), so he wasn't very big on it at the very least.
