Wait. Let me get this straight. There's even a little tiny bit of gold (and other stuff that - for now - is just toxic waste) in some of these old computer components? And there's some fuel in the plastic computer cases? Who knew?
And we're shipping a lot of this old, left-over computer and electronic stuff where?
We agree. But I'll bet there are process engineers on this forum that could describe a whole RANGE of safe(er) and more efficient recycling processes - using tools and techniques that would be environmentally sound and mountable by ordinary people.
Ordinary people who want to work but - for whatever reason - are having difficulty finding public employment (too old; disability; no transportation, etc). Imagine whole NEIGHBORHOODS of people banding together (for profit small businesses? not for profit LLC's ?) and applying the processes - if someone could just coach them on the wholesome way to do what needs to be done.
I've enjoyed your posts and comments for MONTHS now and I think you're smarter than me. AND, I think there are other folks here that're smarter than both of us.
So, for instance, some folks strip electrical cable and make ingots of the copper or aluminum - to hold it until the price goes up. Cool, if they don't choke on the fumes. Well, how do we keep those fumes from poisoning us and degrading the neighborhood? AND, the left-over insulation? How to responsibly turn that into fuel? And how to recycle the left-overs from the plastic-to-fuel-conversion? Someone knows how to do ALL of this. I'll bet they are a MAGA sort of person.
Can it be done? Of Course. We're Americans. We can do anything that's possible - and a LOT of what should be 'impossible'.
I'm thinking carefully planned, employee-owned, cottage-industries - EVERY freaking-where, with an eye to safety and environmental responsibility.
We're taking back our school-boards and city councils. We're taking back our county commissions and our State-Level elected offices. There are even some national level offices that are being claimed by MAGA candidates. So, I think it's just time for us to also take back this part of our nation's destiny. Working, praying, struggling, planning, sharing, laughing, weeping together, we MAGA.
