‘Not responsive’: Couple tried to save Australian cricket legend Andrew Symonds
A couple, who found former Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds minutes after his fatal crash, has revealed their efforts to save him.
The cricket world is in mourning after former Australian star Andrew Symonds died on Saturday night.
He was 46-years-old.
Symonds was involved in a car accident outside Townsville, where the Queenslander lived. He was the only person travelling in the car, but his two dogs survived.
In a statement, Queensland Police said the single-car crash occurred at Hervey Range, as Symonds’ vehicle left the road and rolled. Paramedics tried to save him but were unable to.
Symonds’ passing comes after the shock deaths of fellow Aussie cricket greats Shane Warne and Rod Marsh earlier this year.
So sad. So sad to see the beautiful young family he leaves behind. I used to love watching him play. Explosive batsman, extraordinary fielder and tricky bowler of medium pace and spin. A bit of a freak really. And an Aussie larrikin.
...the Dark State is taking all our best and brightest....
...and genuine larrikins are hard to find these days....
...God speed Andy....
