I agree 100%. Ever since I became a mod, I stopped caring about upvotes and just wanted to get the word out for the crucial information I find.

I simply use upvotes on my posts as a way to gauge interest in a subject, or to see how many people viewed it. I could care less whether my post wins go up 5 or 500.
