I worked with a cancer surgeon years ago. We had a patient with breast cancer. Because she had diplomatic immunity she got opinions from us and in Germany. We offered the usual - surgery, chemo and radiation; they offered her some medications only. She went with them. When she came back to us, the doc said he wanted her to have mammograms every 3 months and we literally watched her cancer shrink down to nothing. He told me 'there's a cure out there, we just not allowed to use it'. I lost all respect for him from that as we were experiencing a surge of young mothers (in their 20s) with breast cancer dying one after another.

In remission =/= cured
