God doesn't make mistakes, if fear wasn't supposed to exist, it wouldn't.

Being devoid of fear is impossible, It's there so you can master it (like every other emotion), that's the true meaning of "fear not!"

My military trainers told us that it is there to help you to survive, you will run around like a scared cat in extreme survival circumstances but this is your fear training you to keep alive. You have to go with it.

And of course your survival training helps a lot.
