I started my computer use on a Mac. Seemed pretty easy and user friendly.
Then Microsoft came out with windows to compete. It was a clunky version of what Mac had already. At the time Mac was the only system that used pictures and icons on the screen. Everything else was just written commands.
It was like Mac was using CDs and everyone else was still using beta max tapes.
The reason is, Mac won't let you mix and match hardware 90% of the time. If you don't buy from them, you don't buy at all. Everything is jammed so tight that you have no chance to swap out video cards or ram. It's also a sealed package -- in that if you do anything to the computer the proprietary repair centers won't touch it and just tell you to buy another one.
Windows allowed you to choose your hardware. Windows 11 seems to be moving away from that... Customer choice is why Windows succeeded, not Billy Boy Gates. If people couldn't choose their hardware, then game companies wouldn't have bothered programming games for almost exclusively Windows platforms.
Unix/Linux is all opensource, but no one programs games for them. You have to use emulators and custom libraries to get things to run on them. There's TOO MUCH customization, especially at the software level. Windows maintained the sweet spot between too much customization freedom and too little.
There just simply isn't an alternative, unless people undertake the overwhelming task to rewrite all games and programs that came out over the last 40+ years so that they can work on Unix/Linux without any user-end monkeying around with the delicate settings.
Is it too much to hope this really happens, and Russia endorses some sort of linux standard gaming platform to finally put the knife in Windows and their horrid cloud services? Google "Microsoft Teams is garbage" to get some idea how bad their software is. I swear, it's like the stuff they put in our cars. It couldn't get much worse if that was the goal.
It is not known exactly which products such a decision will affect, but it is obvious that almost all of the company’s services may stop working in the country, including the Office suite, OneDrive cloud storage, Skype messenger and, of course, operating systems, the most popular of which are Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Russia uses Linux.
Da.
Good point. I didn't catch that.
Hahaha

I thought people would never go for windows.

Not sure how legit this source is, mind you. Lots of typos.
