Prayers requested - Staying the night in the hospital with my son.
✝️ Prayer Request 🕊️
My middle son is a teen. He has been through so much in his short life. Stroke at birth causing cerebral palsy, rare epileptic conditiion cured by brain surgery many years ago.
And today blood sugar was through the roof. He somehow contracted diabetes, likely type 1. He is not overweight, he is pure blood.
He basically has ptsd from all the procedures and doctor visits. And now he may have to get insulin shots multiple times a day.
It hurts me so bad to watch him go through so much.
Please pray for him.
Thank you.
I am going to try and get some sleep now, will read through any comments in the morning.
Staying in the hospital is a must for everyone who has a loved one there. The medical profession has so many incompetent people that it requires an independent set of eyes to keep track of what happens in a hospital. When our son was about 8, he got pneumonia and was in the hospital. My wife and I took turns "room sitting" while he was there. In the middle of the night, his blood oxygen dropped below the level that sets the alarm, yet nobody came to the room. We had to hunt the floor for someone to address it. We don't know what might have happened had we not been there (I can't remember if it was me, my wife, or both of us at the time, because it was almost 20 years ago). During the same hospital stay, some doctor came by and started him on a steroid treatment. We asked about that a little while later, and the doctor said, "Oh, I thought he was here because he had asthma". It's really scary how lax/flippant/incompetent some doctors are. I really feel sorry for people who had loved ones in the hospital during covid, and couldn't stay with them to keep track of what was being done to them. Prayers to you and your son!
And our son has had allergy problems since that time. We believe it was because of those steroids, but we'll never know for sure. My wife and I don't have the kind of allergy problems he has now, so it seems pretty clear he didn't inherit it from us (but yes, there are recessive genes, so anything is possible) I could go on with incompetent/lax medical treatment by doctors on other family members, including myself.
