I don't think whites are targeted is the right word. The article says how parents are looking for a diagnosis. Many white parents are dumb. They think it's cool to have something wrong with their kid so they can be oppressed get sympathy. If your kid won't be trans maybe they are disabled. I have lots of friends who are sure there normal kids a developmentally slow. It's weird how they talk about the struggle and want sympathy.
I went through this with my son 30 years ago. One of his teachers decided he had the drifty kind of ADD. In truth, he was bored silly and felt abused by her harassing. To pacify, I took him to a therapist. $50 a session. Until I found out they just played video games. What a racket. Definitely said no to ritalin.
It is definitely a combination of parents seeking ways to "calm" their boys down in hopes of making them better students, combined with teachers wanting them calmed down so they don't have to figure out better ways to engage them.
My older kiddo has executive function issues. Getting him to do one task, much less multiple tasks, has been a continuing struggle. However, my husband and I knew any attempts to address it with his pediatrician would open him up to an ADHD diagnosis and the push to medicate him. School was no help because they claimed, "he wasn't behind enough" (BS answer because I thought No Child Left Behind). So, he slogged through and graduated on time, only because I pushed him. While I have learned from this experience and my knowledge benefits my younger kiddo, I carry a great deal of guilt about not figuring it out in time my older kiddo.
guilt? Yah me too but I think every parent does. Did a lot of wrong things with my first and didn't do the same for the second one....You've seen the commercial!

Oh, I have. Older kiddo is a forgiving soul, and he knows we did our best.
