Japanese just thought it sound explosion(Fireworks - smoke) a protest, it did not occur to them that it was a gun, only one person in Japan was shot last year, and very few can buy a gun.
American cops are so used to guns, they have to assume everyone is carrying.
I don't know if his security is actually a kind of state provided "Secret Service" or not, but holy shit are those unacceptable reactions to an incredibly loud noise near the principle.
If this is state provided protection, then they need to fucking amp up their training, cause that was utter shit. That one dude finally holding up some kind of document bag after TWO shots was just pathetically insulting.
Not only that, but you can clearly see they're armed with ancient ass revolvers in some photos... in 2022. Yeah, I don't give a shit about your "reliability" argument. Six shots does not beat 15+1 in a protracted firefight, and reloading a revolver with shaky, adrenaline infused hands is ten times harder than slapping another mag into the well.
