When you have time, dig on EVs. They are NOT what is being promised. Look for agencies who investigate auto claims.
It is another Rich Man's trick to remove money from the common people.
If you purchase one, it is too late.

It is all about limiting the movement of the population.
Ze will live in za box and eats za bugs.
Why? To what end?
You about to go protest communist ruler who hates your guts?
Oh well. You'll have to walk there.
You about to expose some ugly communist?
Oops, brakes decided to stop working today.
The whole thing is to limit your mobility/have an easy way to kill you, should the need arise.
If the population is restricted to tighter ranges it makes it easier to control us. It also reduces the likelihood that we will communicate in person. When we communicate in person, they can't monitor us.
Overall, they're awful people doing awful things to other people and they want more freedom to do their business without someone poking around in their business. They're getting old and they've grown impatient, and they're nervous their whole awful operation is going to be exposed.
Enslavement.
And this yes ...
It makes them richer while extracting more from you, decimates the environment (lithium mining) forces you to bake your nads in a dangerous electro-magnetic cage, and gives them total control over your ride and therefore you.
If that is true, then that is psychotic and we have the duty to remove such people from power. Duty.
Electric vehicles will win in the marketplace once they improve battery tech. But once you can charge/replace your battery in the time it takes to refill a gas tank, the ICE is dead.
I'm not saying this as an eco-freak or anything like that.
More like an old man with 17 gas engined vehicles and lawn implements. The internal combustion engine is a big fat kludgey mess of unreliable systems. Electric motors will win.
I.E., I'm an old man who can't stand it when my lawn mower won't start. I adore my plug-in hybrid and nothing is going to stop the EV. It is coming.
im both ways about the subject. on one hand, i am capable of using solar panels to farm the sun for my plug ins and i am not capable of refining petroleum. on the other hand, complex electronics do not last.
I use solar at my lake cabin. It has worked great and been reliable for a the last decade. Plenty of power for the occasional stay.
I am an engine whisperer. There are only three things an engine needs to run. Unlock that and you unlock the secret to limitless power.
Maybe you can get my boat engine to start. It has fuel and spark and air, and it absolutely refuses me.
I'd certainly give it a shot. :)
I think OP's point is that, probably like the smartphone, the device has benefits that are being sold to us while hiding what's really going on underneath. The EVs are not clean, they do not replace classic fuels, they just change the place the burning happens, and move power around less efficiently. But more importantly, they are not transportation devices, they are movement-control devices.
Yes, that too. Well said.
Search up what happens when they're towed or in an accident.
Richard Hammond who was on Top Gear, then Grand Tour was testing this EV. They for a liberal show and audience showed the ugly side of electrics that most will not, I remember watching this show and thinking ... nope not going to buy one no way. https://www.news24.com/wheels/fuel_focus/richard-hammonds-crash-why-did-his-ev-catch-fire-20170614
They are a very inefficient way of extracting energy from coal and wood. Very.
Seriously, some of you need to get out and touch some grass. Right now you all are the horse and buggy guys laughing at the new horseless carriage. The gas engine is over a century old. Something was bound to replace it.
You so glowie.
You so dumb.
Lad, touch some grass? I dig in the grass. No I'm not living in the horse and buggy days although I have one of each. I also have a 1969 Fastback Ford Mustang with a Cleveland. A few more Classics, a old Ford truck, SUV, Sports car and none of them are new. I expect a lot from my vehicles, I can fix them, maintain them and play with them. Yes, I have alot of vehicles, but since they are considered old, my insurance is low. I take very good care of each one since they are irreplaceable.
Americans expect more from the EV technology and it is not where it needs to be.
In fact, the claims of performance are false. The stats they use come from a computer model. AI spits out a bunch of "facts" that do not consider AC use, Heat use, weight of passengers and luggage and if you are towing. The numbers of miles per charge is NOT correct. Reduce it down to 40% and that is the real mileage. The same goes with the amount of time it takes to charge. So, add to your time. Some of you are going to find out that if you take a 1000 mile trip you may have to stop ever 100 miles, and you're going to be really pissed off.
The whole idea of EVs is to separate you from your hard earned money and forbid you to work on it. They think we are stupid consumers and I am beginning to think there are far more than I thought.
The bigger picture will be higher insurance, higher taxes, more expensive repairs and replacing tires more often due to the weight of the batteries.
But if you want to depend on a machine which will record your every move and can be shut down, then go ahead. Be Stupid.
I use an EV as a commuter car. And my friend regularly takes long distance trips with his.1000 mile trips taking 10 stops and your real mileage being 40%? You are clearly out of touch with modern EVs. I blast my AC in mine as it's hot down here in the south. I have a daily 40 mile commute. Your math is just way off. But if you want to continue to pay $4-$6 for gasoline. Every increasing oil changes. And spread fake information. Be ignorant. You do you.
EV's are only an option when you can pour electricity into it from a mobile can/box about the same size as a jerrycan and in about the same time, for the same increase in range.
At that point military and emergency services will start adopting EV's, it won't happen before this is a reality.....
They don't run on batteries?
Jeesus you guys need to get some fresh air. An EV is an EV. Use it like any tool and it can be a blessing or a curse.
