And I use fishermen as a unisex term for both fly fishing men and women.:)
Not related to Q, the great awakening or politics. It's always nice to step away from this madness and enjoy the outdoors.
Went fly fishing last week. Spent a few days in Wyoming/Montana fishing the Madison river. Did a float trip down the Madison and was supposed to have another but that fell through so we had an extra day of wade fishing the Madison in the park (Yellowstone). Overall not very productive.
Then we went to Basalt CO to fish the Frying Pan. The fishing reports said the fishing wasn't that great so we booked a float trip down either the Roaring Fork or the Colorado, which one was going to be determine by the conditions. The Colorado cleared up enough where the guide felt comfortable floating it. We had the river almost to ourselves as I guess everyone else was on the Roaring Fork. And the fishing was awesome. The fish were pretty big, healthy and beautiful.
Go out and enjoy the outdoors and take a break from all the craziness going on.
No fishing for me, but I ride horses for the same reason.
Anyone use their wives/girlfriend used panties as lures? That works wonderfully.
I haven't. But it reminds me of a old documentary I watched about some older guy who traveled to Alaska and lived there. Maybe back in the earlier 1900's. At any rate, I saw him tear off a piece of cloth from a shirt and attach it to a hook and he caught a fish with that. That would seem to go against the notion of "match the hatch", though you might be more successful with "matching the hatch".
I'm guessing you might just be joking, especially since you specified "used".
No I am not.
Fished Penns Creek and Little Juniata this year. I prefer small brook trout streams myself.
Yeah, brook trout are beautiful. Caught of bunch of those back east. I don't see too many of them out here. Though my son took me to a creek in Montana which had brook trout.
Looking so forward to visiting these places when I get to retire, be free. I've been tying flies for years now and cant wait to try them out. God bless you for sharing, sounds beautiful.
Why wait until you retire?
Sounds fun, good therapy. I grew up fishing the Niagara River, phenomenal.
When I was young I would visit my aunts cottage on Lake Erie, Silver Bay I think. I had two aunts each with cottages on Lake Erie. I think the other aunt lived in Thunder Bay. Anyway, their next door neighbor was a fisherman who had a boat. He took me out fishing on Lake Erie. We used the mister twister. Caught a bunch of bass. He showed me how to filet them and we ate them that night. Tasted pretty good. Not sure how clean the water was back then but I was a kid so what did I know.
Loved going to Crystal Beach amusement park.
Comet roller coaster. Freaking frightening watching the wood frame members move as the coaster went by.
Fisher-Price used to have their family picnics there.
Ah, "Comet" rings a bell. Yeah, I remember a rickety old wood roller coaster.
I bet you rode The Big Dipper?...or had a cinnamon sucker lol. I live 10mins away, the amusement park is gone now. Great ice fishing in the spring off those bays :) Small world.
I probably rode the Big Dipper. I assume that was the name of the roller coaster. Also loved going to the outdoor gocart place that was on the way to one of my aunt's. Not sure if that's still there now. I believe we even took our kids there so it was probably there 20 years ago.
I live in the outdoors, instructions unclear.
