When I grew up in the 50's, I only knew one person whose mother worked and she was a teacher. I had 5 children in the 80's and was a stay at home mom. We made it work by ingenuity and sacrifice. Now all my children work and all the grandkids have been in daycare/preschool. I hate it for them (grandkids) but the parents just don't have the same convictions. I think they are all successful but have bought into the materialism that education, wealth and success brings. It really breaks my heart.
