Nehemiah 6:5-14
English Standard Version
5 In the same way Sanballat for the fifth time sent his servant to me with an open letter in his hand. 6 In it was written, “It is reported among the nations, and Geshem[a] also says it, that you and the Jews intend to rebel; that is why you are building the wall. And according to these reports you wish to become their king. 7 And you have also set up prophets to proclaim concerning you in Jerusalem, ‘There is a king in Judah.’ And now the king will hear of these reports. So now come and let us take counsel together.” 8 Then I sent to him, saying, “No such things as you say have been done, for you are inventing them out of your own mind.” 9 For they all wanted to frighten us, thinking, “Their hands will drop from the work, and it will not be done.” But now, O God,[b] strengthen my hands. 10 Now when I went into the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah, son of Mehetabel, who was confined to his home, he said, “Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple. Let us close the doors of the temple, for they are coming to kill you. They are coming to kill you by night.” 11 But I said, “Should such a man as I run away? And what man such as I could go into the temple and live?[c] I will not go in.” 12 And I understood and saw that God had not sent him, but he had pronounced the prophecy against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him. 13 For this purpose he was hired, that I should be afraid and act in this way and sin, and so they could give me a bad name in order to taunt me. 14 Remember Tobiah and Sanballat, O my God, according to these things that they did, and also the prophetess Noadiah and the rest of the prophets who wanted to make me afraid.
There is nothing new under the sun.
Amen!
Wow, good catch, lol. You got me thinking, and I supposed the oldest is this;
Genesis 3:4-5 But the serpent said to the woman, "You will not die; for God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
Nice lol, maybe Nehemiah was the first to get his fake news in print form lol
She failed to note she already saw that which was good, good, very good
All Satan did was add one word. Thou shall NOT surely die.
I say slogging through because half the chapters are rolling through lineage and trying to read OT names I can barely pronounce
Fear is the dis-ease of mind...
Honestly a great sharing too. He strove harder to the work when ever his enemy endeavored to cause him fear. Dude S.F.
Yea, I'd been away from the Bible for quite awhile, but it is definitely something that needs to be read and re-read. I honestly hadn't read, or at the very least forgot I had read about this story when I was a kid or in college. It's either that or the story sticks out more to me now considering the times we're in.
Care to provide some color around this one? At first pass I can't find anything that states that. Also lets be real here... kind of tired of listening to Jews at the moment so I guess it's ok? /s
See above.
The Jews that you are tired of hearing from, are edomites and God hates Esua, they say they are Jews but they are not. The synagogue of Satan. The true righteous Jews are hidden and trust me, you want to be their friend not their enemy. They are coming back.
"The true righteous Jews are hidden"
This is false teaching. Be aware.
"...trust me bruh"
Ive read the entire Bible. Trust me bruh.
66 books.
I'll see your explanation with one of my own... "/s" stands for sarcasm
Those were hebrew
Interesting, where can I learn more about that? Searched but couldn’t find any more info
So Nehemiah is also fake news, you say?
taps forehead
Assertions with no sources.
Empty.
I'm very familiar with the Apocrypha
By the way, you need to stop assuming the education level of the person you are speaking to. It's very unbecoming...and not very conducive to healthy conversation.
Correct.
That's a good one
How the Gibeonites fake their way into Joshua's camp (and thus the tribes if Israel) is another.
The lineage is where God tells us about the infiltrators in the priesthood. But those names! Yep.
Life lessons.
