OK all you eggheads. I read this and and all the links and got lost in the comments, so now I KNOW! I am ignorant to the max about NFT and GME and Game Stop and short selling, whatever. I'm a health care provider and this is way out of my league. Have plenty of cash but have no idea what to do with it or who to trust with it. I'm too damn busy and too damn old to be starting. Go to /superstonk on reddit. They are pretty awakened there (a lot of people from here is there). Only subreddit I visit. You can find your answers about IRA, 401k or other things there.
Easiest way is to buy on computershare dot com. The only annoyance is there is a price delay so it could go up or down before the order settles. Honestly this probably saves people money from buying the peak.
In reality the price today doesn't matter. Each share is a future winning lottery ticket.
You can also buy from a broker and have their support transfer the shares to ComputerShare for you. Fidelity is really good about it. Some brokers won't or take forever or charge to do the transfer.

I don’t think you can DRS 401k funds without the tax hit. Part of the scam they have sold us for too long now. Depending where your 401k is you can move it into GME but you will be at the mercy of your broker when moass happens. Mine is in a managed fund that has been hemorrhaging money this year so I feel your pain.
I feel you there, my 401k accounts are hurting. Well, I may be the least qualified person to explain this, but I will do my best in the time I have. But I know there are way better resources and players who will do this better justice.
I was told to not buy GME from the brokers, and instead buy direct through ComputerShare. It’s a DRS, which is I believe like buying stock directly, and not through a 3rd party (fuckery can ensue when using apps like Robinhood, TDA, etc..). When I did this, it took almost a week to actually clear.
So the whole gist of GME is it will bring the hedgies down because they manipulate the market immensely, and GME was the major target of concentrated shorts. Because the Ape army has been super motivated, they have created a position, through the purchase of mass GME shares, that the hedgies will never be able to cover their shorts.
When this occurs (MOASS - mother of all short sales), supposedly, the share price for GME will rocket “to the moon.”
Once again, I reiterate, I’m nothing but a simple pede who took a few hours to do some research. I would certainly never give any investment advice. As with any stock, you never spend what you are uncomfortable with losing. If I lose a few hundred, it was worth the entertainment.
First you have to register for an account, which takes a few days of waiting. Then once your account is active, you can purchase stocks. Like I said, it does take time once you purchase the stocks for you to actually own the stocks - time delay due to the fact that it’s DRS. So you may purchase at $35, for example, and by the time it clears, it could be $30 or alternatively $50. Just a chance you take.
I haven’t done DRS yet cuz the computershare is sending the verification code by mail and takes 14 business days to come to me. I tried to do it electronic but I failed to answer the stupid questions to verify it was me. Can somebody help me?
You can DRS from the broker holding your shares now. With Fidelity it is super easy and can be done via chat, before you set up a ComputerShare account. I found all the info I needed on Superstonk (Reddit)

Sears failed because it didn’t expand into online retail the way Amazon did. Sears, like many companies, failed to take advantage of the impact of the internet and paid the price. Toys R Us (RIP) failed because it racked up way too much debt, charged a premium for the toys it had (I distinctly remember Legos being more expensive there than anywhere else), and also suffered a bit from online competition.
I agree with you that GameStop was unfairly shorted, and applaud the middle finger that was given to the hedge funds responsible. But every company that fails has unique circumstances behind their fall, and every relevant factor needs to be considered.

Those are synthetics. Shorts have not covered. 50% of the float is locked up in DSR which is unprecedented.
