Our power bills already nearly doubled & climbing. I can't cool down over it, because my fury may be my only source of heat this winter.

And because of the monopoly it's not like we can say " We don't like your services. We're gonna choose your competitor instead ".

Few people will be able or willing to pay that. The country would collapse instead. I suspect it won't come to that because the government will throw some sort of bail-out, to head off the torches and pitchforks.
