Haven't watched the video, but I can provide an answer:
Conservatives, mainstream hacks as the ones in the thumbnail, are frauds. They will stream the milk, but when it comes to meat Conservatives like Steve Bannon and Ken Matthews, they will never go to those places they do because it threatens the status quo.
What's the status quo? Well... it's the pretend battlefield. It's a fucking game to these people and they won't speak against the status quo as long as the gravy keeps lining their pockets.
Now, you, reading this might identify as Conservative and have likely typed up a reply to declare me a shill or faggot or whatever and are likely thinking of some response about how I don't understand Conservatism. This has nothing to do with the definition. These clowns don't represent your values and they'll whisper all the sweet nothings you love to hear as long as you keep throwing money at them. They represent their corporate interests first and always and only. If you are serious about making change, stop taking sides, and stop being insecure about your shitty team. We don't need teams. We have guns and a universal respect for life and people to live their lives' freely how they choose. Now if you're in support of a theocracy, then by all means, continue to side with the rest of the clowns.
Point is, people need to stop supporting factions. This situation we are in is exactly what the Founding Fathers warned against. We don't need parties. We need people who put the Constitution First and aren't afraid to call out the bullshit and spoiler alert, those people aren't all going to be Conservative and/or Christian, but they are American and that is ALL that should matter.
This well-written post perfectly encapsulates my thoughts over the last couple years.
I used to identify as conservative, but began to realize a few things.
I didn’t check all the conservative - I differed on my opinions on same-sex partnerships, endless defense budgets for foreign wars, and propping up Wall Street.
And, something Rush Limbaugh used to say started to click with me — the whole idea that we are conservatives was itself a misnomer. Big, oppressive government run by elites has been the norm throughout history — There’s nothing more liberal or progressive than a government that is subservient to the people.
Then I realized, MOST conservatives, if you start talking to them with their guards down, check slightly different boxes from each other and from the party. That even liberals often check the same boxes we do.
But we all quickly fall completely into the party’s arguments when facing the other side. We start doing the party’s business for them, even though most of us don’t fully agree with either of them.
Once I realized that, I realized how staged most banter between politicians and media personalities felt.
Trump sealed the deal - he very much governed as neither a conservative nor a liberal. Not even as a “moderate” (whatever that is). He governed as a human being.
The labels are meaningless. They are meant to divide us, and I think it’s on us to take the labels away from them.
This is why I say I follow Jesus, but am not a Christian. I want nothing to do with the religion. And ironically enough, the teachings of Jesus go very much against a lot of the Conservative platform. A lot of Christians also don't follow Jesus, they follow Paul's interpretation of Jesus which has also contributed to the mess we're in and why the various churches are so divided. They're obsessed over doctrines and derived policy that has nothing to do with the bigger picture: loving your enemies, treating others the way you want to be treated and so forth. They place Jesus and Paul at the same level and in some instances it feels like they place Paul ABOVE Jesus the same way The Mormons do with Joseph Smith and the Muslims with Muhammad. Yet if you actually put Jesus first and ignore the rest, you start to realize it's a lot easier than people make it out to be and once you take "Do not judge least ye be Judged" t heart and couple that with murdering your desire to control people, and suddenly all the bullshit, all the insecurity all the crap starts to fall to pieces...
Of course this comes at a price. Those who cling to their labels, those who defend the integrity of their honorless factions will see you as their enemy, as many in this sub see me. My independence is a threat to their worldview. My audacity to question the status quo threatens their comfort bubbles. But you know what? I don't care. At least not beyond sharing this with you and everyone else publicly. Not being well liked didn't stop John Adams and without him there wouldn't be an America so why the fuck would I ever let ANYONE'S unfavorable opinion of me slow me down?
And yeah. The thing that got me to walk away from Conservatism was realizing that most Conservatives will support laws and regulations that agree with their religious zealotry regardless of Constitutionality. They also didn't seem bothered by the government taking the reigns when it came to marriage, so yeah they can all fuck off with their un-American attitudes too. Now I get, that like me most of you weren't alive when that happened, but you still fell for the same tricks over the gay marriage debacle. The correct answer was to abolish government marriage. Or change the word associated with the marriage license concept. But nope... like children, everyone picked a side and argued against freedom (both sides were guilty) instead of focusing on the cause. Sadly the same bullshit still happens and the talking clowns mentioned in the post are keeping Conservatives angry and in the camp... I'd like to believe more have woken up. We already have a team: America (fuck yeah!) and we have a banner. That is all we have ever needed. Anything more is just senseless and divisive. I don't give a FUCK how RIGHT you think you are about the world, spirituality or whatever. The Constitution comes FIRST and if you support controls of any kind over other people, I am against you by default.
A-FUCKING-MEN.
Jesus didn't come to be worshiped. He came to be the EXAMPLE. His teachings and philosophy are the blueprint for all of mankind. No "religion" necessary. Once men realized the power they could consolidate using his name it was all over. The "church" as it's known today is just another NGO.
First 4 posts in this thread are the most common sense I've read in a year...spot on. We don't need anymore mental masturbation, just get on with it. There's too much 'ado' about all the manufactured drama, and not enough focus on the heart of the matter - by design.
